Baby Aanya, who was born in the Annaram Brick Kiln. Her mother, Rupa Devi, faced significant challenges including severe malnutrition and limited access to prenatal care. However, through UDAAN, T-SIG’s migrant labour project, and with Corporate sponsorship from Ficosa, implemented by Aide et Action, Rupa Devi received the essential care she needed.
T-SIG, along with 7 Government departments enabled positive interventions in the lives of 10,000 brick kiln workers. Worksite schools were set up in Rangareddy and Sangareddy districts to ensure that children of migrant labourers continue to study in their native vernacular language (in this case, Odia).
The kids are provided with mid-day meals, health check-ups, school bags, uniforms, stationery, books etc. Aide et Action (the NGO implementing this) ensures that every child’s education journey continues beyond the kiln.
On March 5th at 12:30 pm, Rupa Devi safely delivered Aanya at a government hospital. Rupa received vital postnatal nutritional support as well. Through this CSR initiative, she was linked to Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), guaranteeing continued healthcare and nutrition for both mother and child.
Government coordination effort played a crucial role in enrolling Rupa in vaccination programs and facilitating regular pregnancy check-ups, enhancing maternal and infant care within the migrant community. Thanks to this collective effort, Aanya was born healthy, weighing 2.8 kg, underscoring the critical importance of maternal and infant healthcare in vulnerable communities.
The FICOSA project remains dedicated to supporting vaccination enrollment for pregnant women and ensuring ongoing access to ICDS services and regular health check-ups.
Project UDAAN is ensuring a brighter future for hundreds of Aanyas.
