Ms Archana Suresh, Director T-SIG was invited to address students in Geethanjali College of Engineering on March 17, 2025 in Hyderabad. The college has 5500+ students across various disciplines, spread across their 17 acre campus.
The invite was also o inaugurate the Jnana Setu (Knowledge Bridge) series – a podcast to connect students with Industry leaders. Their existing podcast “Campus Conversations” is a series which started in August 2024 and has already hit 9,000+ downloads on Spotify.
My address to the 200+ first year students was on Communication and Content Creation. When it comes to writing, many youngsters need a little guidance. Sharing some nuggets.
1) When you are writing to senior leadership (on SMS / WhatsApp), and need a response, do not send a message with a plain, “Hi Ma’am / Sir.” Explain the context of why you are writing to them and what your “ask” is.
2) If you are sending an email with a request, put in a phone number of a POC / Point of Contact and a date by which there’s a call to action.
Do NOT write “by next Thursday / next week / month”. The more specific you get, the better the chances of a response. Everyone gets on the same page, when timelines are mentioned.
3) Be brave. Network. Walk up to people at professional and social events and ask for their contact coordinates / phone number if you think there will be professional synergies. There’s a saying, “Unless you ask, the answer is always ‘No’.”
4) Find your passion but don’t give up your job. You’ve got to ask yourself in all honesty if your passion is financially lucrative (if you are contemplating, giving up your career for it).
Congrats Kaivalya and team for pulling off a well organised event!
